There are so many different types, sizes and shapes of dog feeders and water bowls, how do you choose the right one? Our Guide to Pet Food Bowls can help you find the perfect fit for your pet!
For the busy pet parent, an automatic dog feeder helps to feed your pet on time and ensures the correct amount is given. Anti-gulp or slow feeder bowls are recommended for deep chested dogs prone to bloat. These specially designed bowls will stop your pet from guzzling down their meals, minimizing this risk. Snuffle mats for dogs are also great for a mental workout, encouraging natural foraging behaviour while keeping them busy and occupied.
Water fountains can help to increase your pets water intake as they are naturally drawn to running water. Always ensure fresh water is available throughout the house, particularly for our older pets suffering from mobility issues.
Petkit Fresh Element 3 Smart Pet Feeder | Amazing, worth every cent! This product is so easy to set up and use and is informative with regards to your pets eating habits, etc. I like that you can dispense extra treats/feeds from your phone and don't even need to home. I wish I had known about this earlier. I definitely would have bought one. -COLLEEN |
Surefeed Microchip Pet Feeder | Once upon a time, there was an obese dog. This is why I needed the Sure Feed Microchip Pet Feeder.. With 2 hoover dogs and a cat who micro fed, one ofthese hoovers was eating far more than he should have and it was costing more and more in cat food than dog food. My beautiful tabby was resistant and a more than a little suspicious of this feeder. A week later, some succulent red meat entree and she was off. Now she, although will a little jumping, is a professional Sure Feed eater and my obese puppy, is well and truly on his way to being trim once more.. Love it and would highly recommend this feeder to anyone that needs to restrict or control pet feeding. -J |
Puzzle feeders and snuffle mats are great for mental stimulation and can keep them occupied. It can also help overweight pets on their weight loss journey by making them work for their food and slow it down.
If your dog has a habit of inhaling their food, or if you own a deep chested dog like a Great Dane, German Shepherd, or Doberman - it is best to invest in a bowl specially designed to slow down their eating to reduce their risk of getting bloat. Bloat is where the stomach fills up with gas, fluid, or food, and becomes enlarged and dilated. This is a painful and life threatening condition. Find out what symptoms to look out for in our Guide on Bloat and GDV in Dogs.
