Tofu cat litter is one of the newest types of cat litter available, made from natural soybean fibre - the unused soybean pulp from tofu production. As a plant-based litter, it is 100% biodegradable and an environmentally friendly option compared to earth-based (clay and silica) litters, meaning that you can reduce your kitty's carbon paw-print with every scoop!
Tofu litter is dust-free and low-tracking, helping to create a cleaner home. It is also a softer litter alternative, and completely non-toxic, making it a great option for kittens who might like to sample their litter!
Cats are fastidiously clean creatures, so it is important to keep their litter trays clean by scooping waste and clumped litter at least daily and cleaning the trays once a week with a mild detergent.
Make sure to provide your cat with enough litter trays (one tray per cat, plus one extra), and place them in easily accessible, quiet locations in your home with two-way access, away from their food and water bowls.
Cats are creatures of habit, and can be resistant to change. If you are transitioning from one litter type to another, start by adding in the new litter to the old in a ratio of 25% new litter to 75% old litter, and then increase to half and half as long your cat is toileting normally. Then, increase to 75% new litter and 25% old litter, keeping the old litter type as the top layer.
For cats with a history of urinary issues, we recommend keeping an extra separate litter tray of their old litter during the transition period, to ensure that they don't hold on or toilet elsewhere! Once they are comfortable using the new litter type, you can remove the separate tray.
Yes, tofu cat litter is made from natural, non-toxic soybean fibre that is safe for your cat. Be sure to properly seal the litter bag between uses, as the tofu litter can go mouldy in high-moisture environments.
Yes, tofu cat litter is known for its strong odour control properties. The soybean fibre is highly effective at absorbing and neutralising odours, leaving your home smelling fresh and clean.
