There are a number of natural cat treat options on the market that claim they are health and natural. So what does it mean when a pet food or treat uses the descriptive term, 'natural?' The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) defines 'natural' ingredients as those derived only from animal, plant or mined sources, have not been produced or altered by a chemically synthetic process and do not contain chemically synthesized ingredients such as preservatives, colours and artificial flavours.
