Dog boots and shoes are a great way for your pooch to enjoy the great outdoors, while keeping their precious paws safe. Whether you're taking a leisurely walk in the park, going for a run, hiking up a mountain, or even skiing down snowy slopes, these shoes ensure your dog's paws are well-protected.
Extreme temperatures, be it the scorching heat of hot weather or the biting cold of cold weather, can be harmful to a dog's paws. Dog boots act as a barrier against these conditions and also protect against rough terrain like sharp rocks, thorns, or uneven surfaces can lead to cuts and injuries. For dogs who are particularly prone to grass allergies, dog booties can help prevent direct contact with allergens,
When choosing dog shoes, it's essential to consider features that ensure a snug and comfortable fit. Measuring your dog's paw width is crucial. It's worth noting that the front and back paws might differ in size, so always measure both to find the perfect fit.
It is important that you find a proper fit for your dog. This is so they are comfortable wearing the boots and do not damage the nail and nail bed if they are too small.
To measure your dog's paw, have your dog stand on a piece of paper. With your dog still, mark on paper where the very back of the paw pad is, then make another mark on the paper where the longest toe nail ends. Some manufacturers will also want a width measurement. Again, with your dog standing, mark the left and right sides of the paws for the width.
It is best to take these measurements standing. This is because when your dog is up and walking around, the paws are more splayed and compressed, which can alter the paw measurements. So, for the most comfortable fit, it is best to replicate how your dog would be wearing the boots.
I would love to show you a photo of how happy he is. Our 13 year old border collie with arthritis would struggle getting off the wooden and tiled floors. But now, he can jump up and run around and keep up with the pack. I wish I should have bought them earlier. -KIMBERLEY
I was recommended by my vet to get some booties for my 10yo Shepherd. He has just been diagnosed with DM and was dragging one of his back legs to the stage his toenails were totally worn and started to bleed. He loves his walks and these boots are fabulous for protecting his feet. He only wears them on his back legs and gets excited when I get them out as he knows he is going for a walk. He does wear them out eventually but super happy with them. -KARE
