1. You know what you're getting
Older dogs have already developed their unique paw-sonality and individual quirks, so whether you are after a snugglepup or an acrobatic athlete you know exactly what you are getting!
2. Toilet training taken care of
Chances are adult dogs up for adoption have already got toilet training sorted. That means less cleaning up and more time for fun and games with your new best friend!
3. Low maintenance, less supervision
Unlike new puppies, adult dogs are less likely to chew on, eat or dig up things they shouldn't. This is perfect for people who aren't home during the daytime to keep an eye on things.
4. You're giving them a second chance
Adult dogs can end up in a shelter for lots of reasons, they may have been abandoned by a previous owner who moved away or their elderly owner may have passed away.
Whatever the reason, adult dogs have a much lower adoption rate than puppies, so by adopting them you really are saving a life.
5. Less sleepless nights
New puppies can take a while to settle down for the night - not to mention needing one or two bathroom breaks in the wee hours (no pun intended!)
Adult dogs will generally prefer just to snuggle in their warm cosy bed for the night meaning more sleep for you!
Older dogs have plenty of love to offer and by adopting an adult dog, youâll be saving a life. Check out the RSPCA, Companion Animal Network, PetRescue and other local rescue organisations to find the pawfect friend for you!
