Cats, being both fastidious and territorial animals, require a designated, comfortable space to eliminate waste. A litter box caters to their natural instincts while maintaining cleanliness and a hygienic environment in your home.
Litter trays also contribute to a cat's overall health and well-being. Cats are more likely to develop behavioural or medical issues if they're forced to eliminate in inappropriate areas. A clean and well-maintained litter box not only prevents such problems but also allows you, as a responsible pet parent, to monitor your cat's health. Changes in litter usage, frequency, or appearance may serve as early indicators of potential health concerns, allowing for prompt veterinary intervention.
Smartcat Utlimate Litter Box - "My 3 cats love these (1 each). They are the best we've had. Easy to clean and maintain."
Ezi Lockodour Dual Layer Cat Litter System - "This litter tray is an absolute game changer! Far less cleaning required, no odour at all, the high sides keep the litter in the tray. It's easy to clean, easy to replace the pads. It's just easy!!! Highly recommended!"
To keep your litter box from smelling in your house, there are a few simple steps you can take to control unwanted odours. These include:
Scooping waste out of the tray regularly, and fully replacing your litter every 1-2 weeks (or more frequently for multi-cat-households).
Consider changing litter types - clumping cat litter can be helpful for odour control as it helps contain odours and makes quick clean ups easier, and natural options like corn-based litters can have superior odour control. Keep in mind that most cats have a preference for their type of substrate, so changing litter types must be done gradually.
Consider using a hooded litter box - enclosed boxes will contain odours more effectively than open boxes, but just like litter types, cats do tend to have a preference for an open or closed box, so this is something to bear in mind.
If all else fails, consider using a safe, non-toxic litter deodoriser.
