Need anything else?
Our range of cat shampoos and conditioners are designed to meet the unique needs of different cat breeds, skin types, and coat conditions. From shampoos that soothe sensitive cat skin to conditioners that bring out the shine and softness in your cat's coat, we've got it all in one place.
Whether you're looking for hypoallergenic options, deodorizing formulas, flea and tick shampoos, or products to enhance the colour and texture of your cat's fur, we've got you covered.
Cats, known for their meticulous grooming habits, usually don't require frequent bathing. However, there are exceptions where shampooing your cat may be necessary. These include when your cat's coat gets significantly dirty, they develop an unusual odour, or they have a skin condition requiring medicated shampoos.
Additionally, bathing might be required for dealing with flea or tick infestations, or for older, obese, or less mobile cats who struggle to groom themselves effectively. Long-haired breeds may also benefit from occasional baths to maintain coat cleanliness.
Cats are generally very good at keeping themselves clean, so most only need to be bathed if they are very dirty, they have something harmful on their coat, or they have a skin disease. The exception to this is hairless cats, like the Sphynx, and cats with very fine coats, like the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex. These breeds tend to have oily skin and do benefit from regular bathing, with the ideal frequency depending on how oily the individual cat's skin is.
In general, we don't recommend bathing more often than every 2 weeks, as too frequent bathing can strip the natural oils from the coat. However, cats with very oily skin or a skin disease may need to be bathed more often - in this case, you should ask your regular vet what frequency they recommend.
Gentle, soap-free shampoo is ideal for cats of all hair lengths. Cats with medium to long hair may benefit from a moisturising or hairball control shampoo - these assist with managing tangles and hairballs by conditioning the coat and making loose hair easier to remove.
Given cats' sensitivity to over-bathing and the stress they might experience during the process, it's always recommended to consult with a veterinarian to establish the most suitable bathing routine and to choose the appropriate cat-friendly shampoo.
